چکیده

Brain functional connectivity (FC) analyses based on magneto/electroencephalography (M/EEG) signals have yet to exploit the intrinsic high-dimensional information. Typically, these are constrained regions of interest avoid curse dimensionality, with latter leading conservative hypothesis testing. We removed such constraint by estimating source-based M/EEG-FC using cluster-permutation statistic (CPS) and demonstrated feasibility this approach identifying resting-state changes in mild cognitive impairment (MCI), a prodromal stage Alzheimer’s disease. Particularly, we proposed unified framework for CPS analysis together novel neighbourhood measure estimate more compact neurophysiological plausible neural communication. As clusters could confidently reveal interregional communication, tested cluster-strength index demonstrate other advantages analysis. found increased communication or hypersynchronization MCI compared healthy controls delta (1?4 Hz) higher-theta (6?8 bands oscillations. These mainly consisted interactions between occipitofrontal occipitotemporal left hemisphere, which may be critically affected early stages Our important create high-resolution FC maps from neuroimaging studies general, allowing multimodal across multiple spatial scales. robustly represent dense bundles connections that less sensitive inter-individual anatomical variability. Overall, help better understand information processing disease conditions as needed developing biomarker research.

Brain Functional Connectivity Changes During Learning of Time Discrimination

The human brain is a complex system consist of connected nerve cells that adapts with and learn from the environment by changing its regional activities. Synchrony between these regional activities called functional network changes during the life, and with learning of new skills. Time perception and interval discrimination are among the most necessary skills for the human being to perceive mot...

Functional connectivity networks for preoperative brain mapping in neurosurgery.

OBJECTIVE Resection of focal brain lesions involves maximizing the resection while preserving brain function. Mapping brain function has entered a new era focusing on distributed connectivity networks at "rest," that is, in the absence of a specific task or stimulus, requiring minimal participant engagement. Central to this frame shift has been the development of methods for the rapid assessmen...

Mapping functional connectivity

An objective and reliable assessment of wildlife movement is important in theoretical and applied ecology. The identification and mapping of landscape elements that may enhance functional connectivity is usually a subjective process based on visual interpretations of species movement patterns. New methods based on mathematical morphology provide a generic, flexible, and automated approach for t...

Functional connectivity density mapping.

Brain networks with energy-efficient hubs might support the high cognitive performance of humans and a better understanding of their organization is likely of relevance for studying not only brain development and plasticity but also neuropsychiatric disorders. However, the distribution of hubs in the human brain is largely unknown due to the high computational demands of comprehensive analytica...

A custom magnetoencephalography device reveals brain connectivity and high reading/decoding ability in children with autism

A subset of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) performs more proficiently on certain visual tasks than may be predicted by their general cognitive performances. However, in younger children with ASD (aged 5 to 7), preserved ability in these tasks and the neurophysiological correlates of their ability are not well documented. In the present study, we used a custom child-sized magnet...
